Advice Forum Friday - Peeling Potatoes

That's right, people. Peeling Potatoes. Well, actually cutting potatoes. I don't peel 'em except for the really ugly parts. But peeling sounds more alliterative, right?

What I want to find out from you is, do you have a magic tool or method for cutting potatoes? I made some scrumptious fried potatoes with onions last night, and it took me 30 dadgum minutes just to cut the dang things up!

That's boring, y'all.

So as I was chopping, I was wondering, what's the secret?

Please enlighten me.

And as usual, post your questions at your blog, and then link up right down here.

"Chef" Adam is sold on his mandoline.

A VERY sharp knife. Wish I had a better response, but I am afraid that's all I can reccomend. :-)

Definitely a mandoline with a julienne blade! I have the one Pampered Chef sells and it is wonderful! It's a pretty hefty investment, but so totally worth it. Seriously.

For me, it's definitely a sharp knife. If I'm cutting the entire potato into even slices, I will sometimes use a mandoline-type tool. But for dicing or anything else, I use my trusty knife. And I guess it's just a matter of practice, because I've gotten pretty quick cutting them up. That must mean we eat lots of potatoes!

I have a friend who swears by her "rotato". You'll have to do the legwork of looking that one up because I have no idea! :)
