The line, it has been crossed.

I know that there are many moms out there who take their kids to school in their pajamas. And I have absolutely no negative opinion about that. In fact, I may even admire them a bit. But I, personally, can not do it.

Y'all, I'm a lazy butt. But I just am too afraid to go out of this house less than fully dressed. I always think about what would happen if I had a wreck, and how I'd look standing out in the middle of the street. Or what if the principal asked me to get out of the car for some reason? I mean, he's standing right there directing traffic Every Single Morning! Now, I might not look good, AT ALL, but I am always fully dressed. Until today.

A few months ago, I got all loosey goosey and started doing the school drop-off in my slippers. Not the pick-up, mind you, but the drop-off only. I felt like such a rebel. And then comes today. Dum dum DUM! I wanted to get the girls to school in time for breakfast so I could get back here and start working (which you'll notice I'm not doing yet). So I just got crazy and put on a pair of jeans with my sleeping shirt. That's right, folks. I took the girls to school in a sleeping shirt, blue jeans and slippers. I'm afraid it's a slippery slope and I shudder to think about where this may end up. But dang, I feel daring!

And now, I must get back to typing that lovely statement about the poor guy whose "delicates" got bitten by a Scottish Terrier. And his "urethicum" is still hurting. Sorry if that's too much info, but his pronunciation is cracking me up.

Later ~

Once, long ago, my husband worked 3rd shift. We only had one car, so I would take him to work, go home with my 18 month old asleep in his car seat, sleep all night, get up, get us both dressed and ready for the day, go back and get hubs who would deliver me to work, baby to day care, and go home and sleep. I got less careful about how I was dressed, it was 11PM for goodness sakes! I wasn't getting out of the car except in my own driveway! Until the night I got totally lazy and not only didn't wear shoes, but had just showered, so I slipped into my mexican dress I wore like a mumu. Only the mexican dress (get it?). And the car absoletely quit on the way home, on the 1 1/2 mile stretch that had absolutely nothing on it, not even street lights! It didn't cough, wheeze, sputter, nothing. Just absolutely stopped. This was long enough ago, we're talking no cell phones. Options: wait for someone to come along and help me (or rape and murder me); walk 1 1/2 miles back to civilization carrying my 18 month old with no shoes or underwear on (did I mention it was July in Texas?) or pray the car would go ahead and decide to start again. I sat there sobbing, and praying harder than I've ever prayed before or since (how sad is that?). I tried the key one more time before total panic set in, and low and behold! It started! YES GOD IS GOOD!! I've NEVER, EVER left the house without proper under garments or shoes EVER AGAIN! I can laugh now, getting the mental picture of me praying and wailing in the middle of nowhere, but I don't recommend it!

Love your blog. You are so real! I know we could sit down first time we meet and talk for hours!

I can't quite say I have done that yet. Many times I have felt like it. Especially those tired morning when I do see other mom who are in their full on pj's. Glad you had a great weekend and I hoped it gave a lot of "pointers".

Too funny! You crack me up.

Glad you had a good time at the retreat.

Ah, yes, I grew up north of Dallas, and understand what you're talking about with the downtown area. I shudder when I think about how when I was in college I went to clubs down there and never even thought about my safety. God was watching out for me!

One time I almost took the kid to school in my pj's and then chickened out at the last minute. I could just picture the trooper eyeing my attire....although I'm sure I wouldn't have been the first one he'd seen.

Now, slippers or barefoot - I'm totally okay with those. I spend 95% of my life slippered or barefooted, so I don't even give that a second thought.

Better watch out! You certainly are on a slippery slope. It can only get worse from here.
